I am committed to practicality and functionality, and as such, sustainability and am reasonable about all things "Green." Replacing lighting to be more energy efficient and replacing kitchen & bath fixtures to be more water efficient are some of the ways this can be accomplished. I recommend Made In The USA products, research potential green products, seek out locally-made products for clients, and reuse (recycle) clients' furnishings and fixtures when possible. Using antiques, refinishing and or reupholstering already-in-the-family pieces and refinishing and/or rewiring lighting fixtures are both practical solutions and sustainable practices. I also recommend Greenguard certified, low VOC paints and stains.

HOW WILL MARY WORK WITH YOU?

FULL SERVICE DESIGN

This is a comprehensive, fully personalized service for your individual home. The finished product is intended to reflect you at your best and to create comfort, function and beauty for you in your surroundings. First, we meet and take some time to find out who you are--how you live, how you'd like to live, what are your likes, dislikes, interests, pet peeves, must haves. At the same time, we also review your current living environment to develop a design concept that will turn your house into your home. We discuss what you already own that can work within the newly created plan.

Once the design plan is agreed upon, we execute the design concept, bringing it to life. Execution includes budgeting, shopping, selecting, revising, approving, ordering, as well as supervising delivery and installation. We also meet with architects, contractors and painters to ensure that plans are executed properly. This is not carte blanche unless you prefer that route.

Together, we create a fully customized project, from frames, fabrics and finishes to artwork and accessories, all suited especially and particularly for your home, or for a room or two.

Cost: Fees for full design services are based upon the scope of the project and typically consist of a flat fee or hourly structure, plus purchases. Please contact us for more details.

Buying/Purchasing Service

We shop together at the Merchandise Mart. Meet me at Starbucks for coffee, tea and scones while we discuss what you are looking for and make our plan for the day. Redefine Your Space: Refresh! Rethink! Revitalize!

Are you trying to sell your home, or do you just want to refresh your home? Have your children grown up, and are you now ready to make your home your own? We come in, review your existing furnishings, accessories and artwork, and then, through careful editing and placement, give new life to your existing home using what you already own. We also de-clutter as needed. (What treasures are hidden away in your closets just waiting to be used again?) This may include making your home more accessible for aging gracefully and with dignity in your home. (Such improvements might include increasing lighting and adding non-skid floor coverings, grab-bars and comfort height toilets.) Cost: Fees are based on whole- or half-day rates. For the D.I.Y. Person: "Pick Mary's Brains"

I have been doing design work for homes for so long there's no way I can meet with you and not offer countless ideas. So in this package, I will come to your home or office, take a thorough look around, and start giving you ideas and thoughts on how to update your space from color choices, to furniture ideas and furniture placement to windows and flooring options. I will give you as many ideas as you can handle in up to two hours. It's up to you to execute, implement and make it happen. Cost: Flat fee for consultation. "Build Your Dreams" Consultation

Bring your dreams, hopes and floor plans to my office and use the resource library to find ideas and create a plan for your home or just a room or two. Together, you and I will build a file for you to use. Cost: Flat fee for consultation. Feel free to stay for up to 3 hours to look through all of the resources. Corporate Art Projects

We recommend and select artwork, have it framed, determine best placement and have it installed in offices, lobbies, conference and meeting rooms for corporate clients. This service is also available for residential clients. Cost: Hourly fee plus purchases. Please contact us for more details.

Custom Window Treatments Only

We come to your home, show you the various style and fabric options for window design, help you select the window treatments that will work best in your home based on your preferences, and have the treatments custom made by our design workrooms and professionally installed. Over the course of three-four meetings, we will select the styles and fabrics, meet with the custom workroom in your home for final design plan and measurements, and then have the treatments made and installed in your home. Cost: Hourly fee plus purchases. A typical project ranges from two to five hours per room. Please contact us for more details.

Custom Bedding Only

We come to your home, show you the various style and fabric options for bedding, help you select the bedding that will work best in your home based on your preferences, and have the bedding made by our custom workrooms and delivered and installed. Over the course of three-four meetings, we will select the styles and fabrics, consult with the custom workroom for design plan and measurements, have the treatments made and will deliver and install them in your home.
